Recipe for Daal Pachmela (Five Lentils)
Ingredents: 1/4 cup dali moong daal1/4 cup dhuli moong daal1/4 cup arhar ki daal1/4 cup dhuli urad daal1/4 cup channa daal1 tbsp salt or to taste1/2 tsp turmeric 1/4 cup ghee1 tsp cumin seeds1 tsp rai1/4 cup heeng2 tsp ginger-finely chopped2 tsp coriander powder1 tsp chilli powder or to taste1 tsp amchoor powder or to tastecoriander leaves for garnish
Method:
Cook the daals with salt and haldi till well blended. Adjust water to make it a pouring consistency.Heat 1/2 the ghee and add jeera, rai and heeng. When they splutter, add ginger and saute till light brown.Add the coriander powder, amchoor and the daal. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes.Transfer into a serving dish. Heat the rest of the ghee and add the chilli powder. Pour this over the daal immediately. Garnish with the coriander and serve.
